9月末にフロリダを直撃して１００人を超える死者を出したハリケーンIAN（イアン）に続き、重大な災害が起こる恐れがまた出てきた。
ハリケーン注意報は、警戒対象地域でハリケーンが発生する可能性が高まった場合に出され、通常、熱帯低気圧クラスの暴風が発生する（屋外での備えが困難または危険になる）４８時間前に発表される。
10月6日（木）現地時間午後2時（AST）現在、ハリケーンの卵は北緯１１．５度、西経 ６７．７度付近にあり、時速約１５マイル （２４km/h）で西に進んでいて、このまま日曜日まで同じ動きを継続。
金曜日の朝までに、ABC 諸島、ベネズエラ北西部の海岸、およびコロンビアのグアヒラ半島の近くを進み、その後カリブ海南西部を横切り、土曜日の夜にはサン アンドレス島とプロビデンシア島の近くを通って、日曜日にニカラグアの海岸に接近する見込み。
最大風速は１時間に約５５ キロ（３５マイル）で激しい突風を伴い、ボネール島での観測で中心気圧は１００５mb（２９．６８inch）と推定される。ハリケーンの卵は今後数日間は勢力を強め、今夜までに熱帯低気圧になり、金曜日はさらに勢力を強める見込み。その後、ニカラグアの海岸に近づきながら日曜日までにハリケーンになると予想されている。48 時間以内にハリケーンになる可能性はほぼ 100%だ。

A Hurricane Watch means that hurricane conditions are possible within the watch area. A watch is typically issued 48 hours before the anticipated first occurrence of tropical-storm-force winds, conditions that make outside preparations difficult or dangerous.
At 200 PM AST (1800 UTC), the disturbance was centered near latitude 11.5 North, longitude 67.7 West. The system is moving toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue through Sunday. On the forecast track, the system is expected to move near the ABC Islands, the coast of northwestern Venezuela, and the Guajira Peninsula of Colombia through Friday morning. The system is then forecast to move across the southwestern Caribbean Sea, moving near San Andres and Providencia Islands Saturday night, and approaching the coast of Nicaragua on Sunday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher
gusts. Strengthening is forecast during the next few days. The system could become a tropical depression by tonight, and is forecast to become a tropical storm on Friday. The system is then expected to become a hurricane by Sunday as it approaches the coast of Nicaragua.
